Meet Dr. Brock Barras
Dr. Brock Barras, DDS, has a passion for all things dentistry. This passion drives him to continue to hone his skills and expertise. Dr. Barras is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), and the Louisiana Dental Association (LDA). These affiliations reflect his commitment to staying current with the advancements in dentistry, all in the name of providing the best care possible.
Dr. Barras especially enjoys implantology, and is a Fellow of the Misch International Implant Institute, an organization that recognizes exceptional expertise in dental implants. Additionally, Dr. Barras holds a Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, further solidifying his expertise in advanced implant procedures.
Continuing to advance his education and expertise, Dr. Barras is a graduate of The Foundation of Advanced Continuing Education and the Comprehensive Implant Residency Program. These rigorous programs have equipped him with the advanced skills and knowledge needed to handle complex dental cases with precision and care.

Sabreen Office Manager
With over a decade of experience in the dental field, Sabreen Chitwood has been instrumental in shaping our practice’s welcoming environment since joining the Barras Family Dentistry team as Office Manager in 2022. Growing up in Walker, LA, she gained invaluable knowledge through various roles in both private and corporate dental settings. Sabreen’s leadership focuses on creating a positive workplace, and nurturing her team’s professional growth while ensuring patients receive top-tier care.
Her life revolves around her loving family, including her husband, son, and daughter. Sabreen treasures family getaways, shopping for bargains at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, and helping others live their best lives. Her leadership and passion for patient care make her an indispensable part of the team.
Haigan B. Dental Assistant
Haigan is a dedicated EDDA Dental Assistant and Lab Technician who brings a passion for improving patients’ lives to her work every day. Originally from New Iberia, Louisiana, Haigan graduated in 2017 from the Academy of Acadiana, where she studied dental and orthodontic assisting. She also holds an Expanded Duty Dental Assisting certification and has received hands-on training in dental laboratories, making her a versatile and skilled member of our team!
Haigan’s career in dentistry began in 2017, and she joined our practice in 2024. Her favorite part of her job is helping patients improve their health and seeing the transformative impact dental care can have on their lives.
Outside of work, Haigan enjoys spending time with her family, including her close-knit parents and half-brother. She is also engaged to be married, and spends some of her free time raising chickens.
What makes Haigan smile most is the being with her family, who inspire her every day to be her best both at home and in her professional life. With her expertise, compassion, and dedication, Haigan is a valuable asset to Barras Family Dentistry and the Lafayette community. We love having her here!
Gretchen T. Dental Assistant
As a dental assistant at Barras Family Dentistry, Gretchen has over a decade of experience. Originally from Gueydan, she graduated from Gueydan High School in 2003 and began her career in the dental field shortly thereafter. For the past five years, she has been a valued member of the Barras Family Dentistry team, where her warm personality and commitment to patient care shine.
Gretchen’s favorite part of her job is getting to know her patients on a personal level. She takes pride in helping them feel comfortable and well-informed about their dental health, striving to make each visit a positive experience. Her dedication to educating her patients reflects her passion for improving oral health in the Lafayette community.
When she’s not at the office, Gretchen enjoys a full and active life with her husband and their three children. Their household also includes a beloved dog and cat, adding even more joy to their family dynamic. In her free time, she loves deer hunting, camping, and curling up with a good book.
What brings the biggest smile to Gretchen’s face is spending time with her children, who continue to be her greatest source of pride and happiness. We love Gretchen and the atmosphere she helps us create!
Lauren M. Lead Dental Hygienist
Lauren is our Lead Dental Hygienist. Originally from the small town of Washington, Louisiana, Lauren’s career in dentistry began in 2007 as a front office administrative assistant and dental assistant. Having developed a passion for patient care, she returned to school to pursue a career as a dental hygienist, earning her Bachelor’s degree from the LSU School of Dentistry in 2012. Lauren also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, which she earned in 2005.
After working as a hygienist for several years, Lauren briefly moved out of state, but in 2022, she returned to our practice full-time. Her favorite part of her job is building relationships with patients while educating them about oral health. With each patient, she strives to create a personable experience with the best care she can give.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband Joe, their two children William and Joey Rose, and their spoiled dogs Walter and Effy. She loves watching movies, staying active, and cooking delicious meals. Seeing her children’s joy, hearing a good joke, and witnessing others succeed always bring a smile to her face. We love the positivity and fun Lauren brings to our team!
Emily Dental Hygienist
Born and raised in Lafayette, LA, Emily Dore pursued her dream of a career in dental hygiene by first attending ULL for her prerequisites and then earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from ULM. Certified in CPR, Emily brings expertise and warmth to her role at Barras Family Dentistry. Her passion lies in helping patients achieve optimal oral health and confidence in their smiles.
When Emily is not working, she maintains an active lifestyle outside the office, pursuing outdoor activities like fishing, crabbing, hunting, and hiking. She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new hobbies, and giving back to her community. Emily’s dedication to her patients and upbeat personality make her an essential team member.
Marilyn Dental Hygienist
Born and raised in New Roads, Louisiana, Marilyn brings fresh energy, warmth, and dedication to Barras Family Dentistry. She pursued her passion for oral health at the LSU School of Dentistry, earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2022. Marilyn joined our team soon after graduating and her favorite aspect of her job is the welcoming, family-like atmosphere of the practice. She thrives on building connections with patients, motivating them to embrace healthy oral habits, and ensuring they feel cared for.
Outside of work, Marilyn cherishes quality time with her family, especially her beloved niece and nephew who she describes as her “whole world.” An avid traveler, she can often be found planning her next weekend getaway or unwinding with a good book and cup of coffee. Marilyn’s positive energy and dedication to her patients make her a beloved team member.
Megan Registered Dental Hygienist
Originally from Raceland, LA, and now calling Lafayette home since 2018, Megan brings nearly a decade of dental experience to our practice. She graduated with honors from Pearl River Community College in 2022 and earned awards like the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler and the Dr. Frank Turnage Positive Attitude Award. Megan’s journey began as a dental assistant before advancing to become a registered dental hygienist. After joining Barras Family Dentistry part-time in 2023, she began a full-time position in 2024. Megan loves connecting with patients, building relationships, and collaborating with like-minded dental professionals who share her enthusiasm.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with friends and family and dreams of visiting all 50 states. Megan’s belief in finding joy in the little things ensures she approaches every day with a smile.
Lauren H. Scheduling Coordinator
Lauren joined Barras Family Dentistry in November 2022, bringing her warm personality and enthusiasm to her role as Scheduling Coordinator. A native of Berwick, Louisiana, Lauren graduated from Berwick High School in 2015. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with patients from all walks of life and witnessing their excitement as they leave the office with bright, confident smiles.
Lauren’s love for connecting with people comes naturally—she’s one of 10 siblings, where being a “people person” wasn’t just encouraged, but essential! This ability to form meaningful relationships makes her a perfect fit for the Barras Family Dentistry team. She’s also a great person to have around in an emergency, as she’s certified in CPR.
Aside from dentistry, Lauren enjoys crafting and decorating, especially for holidays, creating special moments for her family. She and her husband Brandon have been married for over two years and are parents to their 1-year-old son, Conner. They’ll celebrate the arrival of their second child in 2025, ready to embrace the adventure of having two under two.
What makes Lauren smile the most? Watching the world through her little boy’s eyes and teaching him new things—moments that bring joy and inspiration to her every day. Lauren brings a joy of her own to our practice, and we’re so glad she’s with us.
Hallie Dental Assistant
Hailing from Arnaudville, LA, Hallie Stelly has been a dedicated dental assistant since graduating from Acadiana Area Career College in 2017. She further honed her skills with an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant certification from LSU School of Dentistry. Hallie joined Barras Family Dentistry in 2021 and quickly became known for her compassion and ability to make patients feel comfortable. She values the close-knit, family-like environment of the practice, where both team members and patients feel supported and cared for. Hallie’s professional passion lies in creating a comfortable environment where patients can feel at ease and find reasons to smile.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and their daughter. Hallie’s warm personality and dedication to patient care contribute to our friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Bailey Dental Assistant
Since joining Barras Family Dentistry in 2023, Bailey has made a significant impact with her patient-centered approach and technical expertise. A graduate of Southwest Dental Academy and certified as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, she brings valuable experience from her dental career that began in 2019. Bailey takes pride in building meaningful connections with her patients while ensuring they feel comfortable and well-cared for during their visits. She particularly values being part of our collaborative team environment.
Bailey spends her free time enjoying life with her husband and their two beloved dogs. Whether she is cooking, fishing, watching sports with friends, or traveling, she embraces every moment with enthusiasm. Bailey’s kind nature and dedication to her patients make her a valued team member.
Miranda Hygiene Coordinator
Born and raised in Abbeville, Miranda brings over a decade of dental experience to her role as Hygiene Coordinator. A Vermilion Catholic graduate, she is also a licensed esthetician, adding a unique touch to her patient interactions. Miranda joined Barras Family Dentistry in 2023 and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for every patient. Her joy comes from meeting new people and making them feel at home.
When Miranda is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, which holds a special place in her heart – as the oldest of four siblings. Miranda also loves reading, fishing, and cheering on LSU and Saints football. Her genuine care for others makes her a vital part of the team.
Shawana Lead Dental Assistant
Shawana Savoy, a Crowley native, brings over two decades of dental experience to her role as Lead Dental Assistant. Her unique background includes eight years of service in the United States Army as a 91E dental assistant and has been sharing her expertise as a Certified Dental Assistant Instructor with Accelerated Dental Assistant Academy for almost a decade. Shawana has since dedicated herself to providing exceptional patient care and has been a key part of Barras Family Dentistry since 2022. Her passion lies in positively impacting her patients’ lives by delivering care that is compassionate, efficient, and patient-centered.
Outside of work, Shawana maintains an active lifestyle through workouts and morning jogs. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and cheering on LSU women’s basketball. She cherishes time with her fiancé Kevin, her daughters, and her grandson, who lovingly calls her “Lolli.” Shawana finds joy in life’s simple pleasures and acts of kindness.
